Do you crave it when you're feeling ill, like with a fever?

Sometimes. I really like Campbell's chicken soup....don't know about too many other soups.
I tend to mostly crave fruit when I'm not feeling well.

Okay, but when you crave fruit when you're ill, and you eat it, a) how do you feel while eating it, and b) how do you feel a half-hour later?

Soup or soup-ish dish, yes, because I'd like to get something easy to digest.

i make a point to have soup atleast 3 times a week cause of its benefits that it offers
Healthy habits for eating soup
Soup makes people's mouth water, whether it is borsch of Russia, kelp soup of Japan, or duck soup of China.
Since soup is an indispensable part of most people's dining menu, it is important to know how to drink soup healthily. Below are some habits that should be avoided while drinking soup.
Throwing away the boiled ingredients
Some people throw away the ingredients of soup, thinking that the taste is not good. However, scientists have found that more than 85 percent of protein remains in the sediment even after fish, chicken, or beef is boiled for six hours, with only 6-15 percent of protein seeping out into the soup.
Moreover, nutritious elements in foods can be absorbed by human body more easily after they are boiled for hours. Therefore, it's better to have the sediment together with the soup.
Drinking soup made of single material
One food can't supply all the nutrition needed by the human body. Even delicious meat soup with rich amino acid lacks minerals and vitamins that are essential to human body. Therefore, it's better to make soup with various kinds of meat and plants, which can not only provide comprehensive nutrition but also improve the taste of the soup.
Drinking very hot soup
Soup that is too hot is very harmful to human body. The mouth, gullet and stomach can only stand temperatures below 60 degrees Celsius, and hot food will burn the mucous membranes. Scientific research has shown that hot food lovers are vulnerable to esophageal cancer.
Drinking soup after meal
Having soup after meal will influence the function of the digestive system, because soup can dilute the digestive fluid. The best time to have soup is before or during meal. Several scoops of pre-meal soup can increase the appetite, and having some soup during meal can help digestion.
Swallowing rice with soup
Swallowing rice with soup will slacken the functions of the digestive system, or even cause gastric diseases. As rice goes into the stomach together with soup without being fully chewed in the mouth and soup dilutes the digestive fluid, rice can't be well digested and absorbed.

Funny. Typically you get soup before main dish at restaurant, but I guess it's not the best way to eat soup.

Is this because our digestive fluids are too powerful for our current needs?

You want to get something easy to digest, so you want to get something like soup. You want to get carbohydrate, so noodle is a good choice. You get carbohydrate and noodle is easy to digest. I don't know why chicken is the choice. I don't see why it cannot be beef soup or pork soup. I personally like fish soup.
