This is an interesting read, from the MIND UK website, and may produce some facetious comments but is very real for some people!

That's the thing with all mental health illnesses... people find them difficult to understand unless they have first hand experience either as a sufferer or through being close to someone that suffers/has suffered.

The article actually covers many types of voices; some are more like religious experience, hearing voice of god, higher calling, etc. Some are caused by stress, and possibly some mental illness? What intrigues me is that hearing voices is not necessarily related to mental illness.

Is it fair to say that those who hear voices do not necessarily have mental condition/disease?

The article mentions that people like Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, and Ghandi heard voices. That alone creates endless debate; you will not be associated with mental condition/disease automatically if you hear voices.

Hi there,
I am new here. I experienced the auditory delusions and was treated with anti psychotic medication successfully. I now lead a normal life and have a site that I am trying to get going. Please contact me if you can find me some traffic. Aren't I brazen!

If I may ask, do you take medication or you are perfectly healthy without any medication now?

My colleague in the office here swears by the fact that a voice told him to slow down in his car once. Moments later a car came speeding round the bend from the other direction, on the wrong side of the road and just missed him. Had he not listened to the voice, he would have crashed.

A warm welcome to the forum, doh!

I'm glad to hear your life has returned to normal. Would you mind expanding at all on your experience?
There is a very interesting thread
here on my forum about someone who had an odd experience after a head injury - it was was both auditory & visual.

I wonder just how many people hear voices? If you had to consider the number of people that claim that God speaks to them, then add to that the volumes of people that believe them...
I suppose now I finally understand why we have religion!
