This looks to be a pretty useful site if you want an overview of the diseases that exist in various countries:

South America:
Malaria: Only risk in northern rural areas of Argentina close to Bolivia and Paraguay.
Hepatitis A or immune globulin: Recommended for travel to this region.
Typhoid: Recommended for less developed countries in this region.
Yellow Fever: Only in Argentina, and if you are traveling outside urban areas there.
Hepatitis B: For unprotected infants and children up to age 12.
A lot of diseases to watch out. ... I'm thinking about traveling to this region sometime next year.
