That's a great question and I dont know the scientific answer but I am speculating that it has to do with the metalic properties of copper.
It has to do with stability, isn't it? Silver and gold are much more stable, but they are much more expensive obviously.

That sounds like an appropriate explanation. I am sure they can make it of silver or gold if the market existed for such a thing.

There are number of healthcare services/products that are so expensive, yet there are people who pay for these services/products. Given good marketing, maybe silver/gold tongue cleaner can sell.

I would agree. I dont believe that a 14K gold tongue cleaner would be terribly expensive. Something to think about

A little more serious response:
Have you heard of tongue cleaner made of ceramics or wood? One is very stable and the other, I think, is very friendly to human body. I'm just curious.

Never

I dont believe they exists but then again, I could be wrong. Plastic, metal makes sense; wood - may be not. A related subject may be the practice of cleaning teeth using a small branch of neem. It is common in India and so are plenty of toothepasts that contain Neem oil. As much as the thought of cleaning teeth using the neem branch repulses me, it works and on top of it, I have never seen any of them go to a dentist

Nope. You've got to tell us what it is.
