Hello Monica

A man has survived after shooting himself in the heart with a nail gun. The surgeons said Nigel Kirk from Burton on Trent came within 1mm of dying.

What do you think?

I know, but what do you think about this shooting? He was nailing down floorboards in his bathroom when he tripped and fell. The gun fired a two- inch steel tack into the lining of his heart.

It happened just recently. He dialled 999 and was rushed to a heart unit in Leicester where the nail was removed in a delicate operation.

The same man - Nigel Kirk - dialled 999.

Apparently he would have bled to death if he had pulled out the nail.

Well, the wound would have been fatal if the nail had not hit hard scar tissue built up from an illness 30 years earlier.
